Running Accomplishments:

I have been running for 3 years now. My parents are the ones who got me into running. My first year I ran Top of Utah and St. George Marathon. Both of which were just over 4 hrs. Last year at St. George I was on for a 3:50 but my body fell apart, I ended up waking up in an ambulance at mile 23. I sure hope this year is better.

Hobble Creek half 06- 1:47:19

Art city days 5k- 23:55

Short-Term Running Goals:

I want a 3:45 this year at St. George- even though finishing would be much better than last year

Long-Term Running Goals:

I would like to get faster and one day do an Iron Man.

Personal:

I married the love of my life. I am currently in the Nursing program at SLCC, I will be graduating this December, Yeah!! When I am not at school I work for a sports medicine Dr as a medical assistant. My schedule is pretty crazy and I will have to be doing quite a few of my runs in the afternoon or at night after a long day of school and work. I am hoping that this blog will make me more accountable for my runs and help me to get them in.

AM- 5.25miles, 9min/mile average. Ran up Provo canyon with Brandon. Brandon's ankle was bothering him so we turned around early and went home. Was planning on adding more around our house but I was freezing by the time we got home and couldnt get myself back out the door. (I made myself a deal that I would have to go to the gym later)

PM- 2.75miles, 8:43 average. Ran on the treadmill. I then went to power pump class. Man I forgot how much I really enjoy this class. It is interval training plus weights, it really kicks my butt. I love lifting weights, it makes my feel good. I am going to try and make it to this class more often.

Ran in Provo. My Garmin was completly dead when I tried turning it on this morning, so I have no idea what my times were. I felt pretty good today- my legs weren't too sore, which I thought they might have been after yesterday. I picked it up the last 2 miles- dont know how fast they were, but I put forth pretty good effort.

Started at Wills ran up the canyon 7.5 miles and then back down. Drove by the mouth and saw that Brandons truck was still there so stopped and ran up the canyon 1 mile to find him I never found him so ran back down. (Found out later he was in the river soaking so I missed him) The canyon was pretty busy today, there were a ton of runners. Felt pretty good- my left hip was bothering me some and I had stomach issues the entire time. But amazingly 17miles felt short and easy.

Ran with Brandon this morning. Only did 5 easy miles as Brandons foot is still bothering him. I am going to try and get in a few more tonight.

PM: Yeah I a made it out again. Its always hard for me to get out at night after I had worked all day and then cleaned my house. Ran up and down Provo canyon- it is sure getting dark a lot earlier. I hate running in the dark, especially by myself. My left hip and knee were bothering me some but thought I would try and do somewhat of a tempo run, as I have been doing a lot of easy miles lately. Warmed up 2 miles and then tried to pick it up some- turned around .5 miles later and wanted to keep around 8min/mile. 8:20, 7:50, 7:58. Didnt want to push it too hard as I have to run early tomorrow morning.

Ran in Provo with my mom and dad. It felt harder than it should have. My left leg was bothering me some. With about 2 miles left to go I started getting a really sharp pain in my left arch. I tried to stretch it some-but it wouldnt losen up. This has happened before- I think it might be the start of plantar fascitis. Im going to stretch it, and roll it and see if I can get it to go away.

Yeah last long run! Ran with my mom with the Spanish Fork group. We started about 2 miles past Blackhawk campground up Payson canyon. Oh how nice it is to have it done. We went really early and my body's digestive system wasnt quite ready to work yet. Of course when we started running it decided it was ready- love how that happens. My arch did hurt some during the run- stretched it a few times and took some IBU around mile 13 which seemed to help some.

Mile 1- 10:10 mostly uphill, 2- 9:25 taking it really easy 3- 8:56, 4- 8:38, 5- 8:22 starting to pick it up some, 6- 8:39 really needing a bathroom, 7- 8:09, 8- 8:16, 9- 8:03, 10- 7:54, 11-8:19-Bathroom stop finally, 12- 8:14, 13-8:15, 14- 8:21, 15- 8:42, 16- 8:42, 17-9:04 stopped to drop clothes, 18- 8:53, 19- 9:47 another bathroom break, 20-8:48, 21- 8:32  Miles 2-13 were pretty steepdownhill. 14-21 were mostly flat to rolling hills. 3:01-8:40 ave

Overall I am pretty happy with my pace. I felt pretty good the entire run, and was suprised to be done at 21- I was planning on 22 and actually felt like I could have gone more- It is always nice to have a "good day" now only if that would happen on race day!

Ran a few miles late tonight with Brandon. Legs were still a little tight from Saturdays run. It felt good to get a few in.

Didn't want to wake up when my alarm went off- the group plan was to run on the track and I hate track workouts. I really contemplated not going, but I knew I wouldnt have time to go later, so I got my lazy but out of bed. It wasnt too bad ran a few miles warm up- then started doing some 800's. I really didnt push too hard, mainly just did tempo running faster the staights and a little slower the curves. Pretty boring, but its done!

Slow easy miles today. I really didnt want to get up. I have been so tired lately. I went to bed pretty early last night, and if I wasnt meeting people I would not have gone this morning. Had a bad attitude about running and my body didnt really want to run. My left hip was bothering me and my calves are still sore. I am so ready to get St. George done with. I am ready for some time off and some cross training!

Ran from my house to Provo canyon and up till 7.5miles and then back. Not a great run today- had stomach problems all morning and had to stop 3 different times to go to the bathroom. My left hip and knee were achey, I am just hoping for a finish at St. George at this point.

A few miles in between studying for a big test tomorrow. My breathing was off today- my lungs hurt, forgot to use my inhaler and the weather has been cooler. Now I am back to studying again. O-how I love school.

Bad sleep last night so I didnt get up when my alarm went off. Went to the gym to try and get some faster miles in. Warmed up for 1.5 miles did a mile about 7:50 pace, then .5 mile jog. Then .5 mile fast with .25mile jog- repeat. I did 5-160meter sprints with 80meter jog in-between and then a good cool down. I felt pretty good today. My left leg started to hurt at the very end, I think it was just from pushing harder than normal.

Ohhh slept in till 7am. Oh how nice it is to taper. My left calf is still killing me- I think it is from the speed wok on Wednesday, but I think it should be better by now. I charged my garmin last night but for some reason it didnt charge and was completely dead- had to run back and get my good ol' watch. Tried to do a 3 miles at my 5k pace- my legs were hurting bad, but I figured this was good for me mentally and physically so that I can push through the pain next Saturday. Laps: 7:55-some up hill, 7:45, 7:50-getting tired.

I think I am going to go get a massage today- my body seems to really need it!

Easy miles today- left leg still a little tight. Felt pretty good though, my body wanted to go faster but I tried to hold back some. Saw Ron on the way back down the canyon. It was so good to see him. He is planning on running St George this year (He was in a pretty bad bike accident a few months ago) Ron is my freakin hero, he is awesome. In fact he is the one that gave me the nickname "Pinkie". It was soooo good to see him running!
