Marathon Finish

Running Accomplishments:

I have been running for 3 years now. My parents are the ones who got me into running. My first year I ran Top of Utah and St. George Marathon. Both of which were just over 4 hrs. Last year at St. George I was on for a 3:50 but my body fell apart, I ended up waking up in an ambulance at mile 23. I sure hope this year is better.

Hobble Creek half 06- 1:47:19

Art city days 5k- 23:55

Short-Term Running Goals:

I want a 3:45 this year at St. George- even though finishing would be much better than last year

Long-Term Running Goals:

I would like to get faster and one day do an Iron Man.

Personal:

I married the love of my life. I am currently in the Nursing program at SLCC, I will be graduating this December, Yeah!! When I am not at school I work for a sports medicine Dr as a medical assistant. My schedule is pretty crazy and I will have to be doing quite a few of my runs in the afternoon or at night after a long day of school and work. I am hoping that this blog will make me more accountable for my runs and help me to get them in.

Finally got to run at 8pm tonight. It was still 96 degrees outside so we decided to run up Provo canyon, where it was a little bit cooler. Had a pretty good run. Had a bad day today so it was nice to get out and run, and let my mind go.

Ran 6 miles on the dreaded treadmill today. I hate the treadmill, I get so bored. Plus it was extremely hot in the gym, but it was hotter outside. Felt pretty good today, just no ambition to push it hard. Glad to get it in as I am finding it really hard to do it all-work, school, and running. I am lacking in sleep. I hope to maybe catch up some this long weekend.

Ran LA freeway today. I was pretty shot. Legs and entire body were tired and I felt somewhat dizzy.  Its probably due to the lack of sleep this week and two pretty hard workouts. Did get to see the hot air balloons going up while we were running.

Drank some gatorade and ate a peunut bar as soon as I was done running. The last few times I have done this I haven't gotten sick after running.

Came home and took a nap. The doctor I work for wasnt in today. So I didnt have to go in till later. It was nice to get some extra sleep.

Did not want to get up this morning, but did it anyway. Ran LA Freeway. (Lots and lots of hills) Took a while to get my body going, but felt good once it did. Tried to push it the last 3 miles from Rock Canyon through BYU campus to Memorial Park.- average 8-8:30 min mile for the last 3.

Came home, showered and took a well needed nap.

Was able to get in a few miles today before school. The last 2 days have been crazy and I havent had time to run. Ran with a different group today and they are a lot faster than me, (which isnt too hard) tried to keep up but couldnt. Had to turn back early on my own as I had to be back by 6:30 for school.

44 min. First 3 miles were under 8:30. Last 2 were around 9:20's. I think my first mile was too fast and I died at the end.

Ran LA Freeway South. Was feeling pretty good for the first 4 miles. And then I twisted my ankle on a big rock and went rolling down the trail. My ankle hurt bad and I really didnt want to get back up. Walked for a few minutes and relized that I was going to be late for work if I didnt start running again. So I limped/jogged the 3 miles back to my car. (thanks Sara for staying with me and keeping me going). Wished I had an automatic car on the way home as pushing in the clutch was a killer. Iced and took some IBU and headed off for work. Seems to be easing some, work has been extremely busy and I have had to run around on it all morning. I am really hoping that it will be fine as I need to put in a long run on Saturday.

Started at Soldier's Hollow and ran to Vivian park. Only 13.5 miles so had to add on another 2.5 miles. Great run, I love the first 7 miles of trail. Its pretty hilly, but beautiful, the sun was just coming up and starting to shine on the lake. Saw Ron at mile 7 and walked with him for a few minutes to hear about his bike accident. Headed down on the old highway and then eventually on the railroad tracks. Took it pretty easy- didnt want to hurt my ankle as it is still a little sore. Glad to finally get to Vivian park and get off the railroad tracks, unfortunantly we were short on miles so had to run down the canyon for 1.25 miles and back. I was pretty tired by the end. Soaked in the river for 10min. it was cold!!

Had to run by my lonesome tonight as Brandon thought it was a good idea to take a test tonight instead of run with me. Ran up Provo canyon and back down. There was a ton of people walking up the canyon- I almost felt out of place, like I should have been walking instead of running. My legs were pretty tired, especially the first few miles, but they started loosening up by the end. Overall felt pretty good, didnt try to push too hard. Did get enough cotton and bugs in my mouth that I dont think I need dinner now, YUM!

Got in a few miles before school. My legs were pretty tired today. Did do one mile repeat with the group, well behind them. Forgot to turn my Garmin on, so I'm not sure what it was. My guess is around a 7min/mile.

Ran LA freeway today. Legs were tired and achey. I swear they felt like 300 hundred pounds each. It was all I had to pick them up and put one in front of the other. The hills were especially killer. My legs did finally start to relax the last few miles. I hope my legs feel better before the great ol Diamond Fork run this weekend. Totally forgot my Garmin today, so I have no idea what my pace is, It felt like we were going "fast" but I am sure we werent!!

Ran Diamond Fork. Great long run. Legs were tired first few miles. Dreaded the pavement section, but got it done (walked a few of the steep hills). Felt pretty good on the way down. Started getting tired around mile 15. Soaked in the river.

Averaged about 11min/mile. Hard trail run!!

Ran on the treadmill at the gym tonight. It was pretty hot and muggy outside so I decided to hit the treadmill. Bad Idea! It was even hotter in the gym. I was sweating before I had even ran for 2 min. Wasnt really in the mood to run today, and the heat didnt help either. O-well at least I got 5 miles in.

Ran from Novell up to Rock canyon then back on LA freeway. The first few miles were Horrible! I was having sharp pain in my legs and was breathing way too hard. Was ready to call it a day at about mile 3. Kept on going and my legs finally started to loosen up. Never felt really good, but I was able to get in 14 slow miles today.

Went camping with the family this weekend. We camped at Black Hawk up Payson canyon. Wanted a pretty easy run so ran down the canyon. The first 2.5 miles were steep up hill- my calves were really tight and I had to stop twice to stretch them out. Once I started downhill they gradually eased. Felt pretty good today. Could have gone longer but my ride was ready to take me back up the canyon (and I didnt want to have to run back up!)

Left calf was really tight, stretched at mile one at it hurt so bad to stretch it. Im not really sure why it is so tight.

Slept in today. I think my body really needed it, it was still hard to get up at 7am to go to work. Ran on the treadmill tonight. Really didnt want to, it is hard to run at night. I just dont have a lot of energy after working all day long. Only 4 miles, but I guess that is better than none.

Ran up Provo canyon 3.25 miles.Just over 9min/miles Tempo run down. Averaged 8min/mile (which is just over my 5k pace) Brandons calf wasnt cooperating so he went home. I ended up running home. I thought I slowed down a lot, but looking at my garmin I averaged 8:35s.

Ran LA Freeway this morning. Legs were tired, calves and hamstrings felt really tight. Went pretty slow. I think we averaged around 10:20- which is okay for how hard the trail is. We had a pretty good group today- there was 7 of us. It was great to have people to talk to and keep me going that are around my same pace. I think I will take tomorrow off and see if my legs will recover before my first 20 miler of the year. Yikes!
